We the People of White Privilege

11/9/2016 Big day yall.

First and foremost, Congrats to Mr. Trump on his win. You now have four years so don’t fuck it up. You are not the first non-politician in that house, but you need to be as good or better than the ones before you.

Now on to Mrs. Clinton and her supporters.

You underestimated us. We are still the majority. We the White Christian persons.

You called us names(as we did you), you threatened our amendment-given rights (Guns and God) and then expected us to sit quietly while you carried out those threats. Wrong.

We did not vote for Trump because we wanted a so-called racist and sexist in the White House (again, He wasn’t the first and I’m thinking he won’t be the last). We wanted our government to stop being corrupted by politicians that do not hear our concerns and actually try to change them.

We may have the backwards way of thinking, we may be slow to change, but while we are still the majority of this country, you need to work with us and not against us.

We are teachable. We do learn that we are wrong sometimes. 95% now believe that slavery is and was wrong (the other 5% are the ones we don’t claim, like that crazy aunt you have)

There is a growing group of Christians that believes in equal rights for all, including the LGBT community. So do not assume we will never change our ways.

If you want us to change to your way of thinking

  1. Do NOT threaten to take our lives/way of living away. Adding to your quality of life does not have to mean taking from ours.
  2. Words mean nothing without action. If you want a gun-free America(not gonna happen IMHO) show us it can be done. Your prime example, Chicago, is not doing so great at the gun-free lifestyle.
If you don’t want a wall around our county, show us we don’t need it by coming to this country legally and lobbying for a complete overhaul of our immigration system (it needs one).
If you want more rights for women, start treating yourself and other women the way you want to be treated. No name calling or trashing their decisions. If you are a woman and own a company, pay equally. Find companies that support a generous paid maternity leave and support them. Do not support companies that treat women unfairly in pay and promotions.
  3. Tell the truth. The whole truth and nothing but the truth. Fox News an CNN are two of the most bias media stations ever!!!!! I don’t want to hear anything they have to say, because they always lean towards their own agenda. I need to hear both sides of the coin before I choose who to support.
Don’t tell me that a cop shot an unarmed man. Tell me that the unarmed man was fleeing the scene of a rape with his pants falling off and after yelling a warning, the cop shot an unarmed man til he fell.
Don’t try and wrap it up in a pretty bow. I want the truth. If a man was truly unarmed, not running from a crime, and cop shot him without warning, then yes that cop should be punished. Sugarcoating things will not help you.
  4. Love. Kind words and kind actions. That’s how you change the world. I know it’s hard. We have a lot of haters in our majority, but trust me when I say that killing them with kindness is the only way to unfreeze their cold, dead hearts.

Political Experts last night were calling us the “Silent White” vote. Oddly, they were completely accurate in their description. We have been looking, listening, and waiting. We see your good and we see your bad. You thought we would stay silent, Mrs. Clinton. You thought California and New York was going to carry you through to the White House.  Next time you run, ( I still won’t vote for you thanks to your attitude and actions towards the military) you would do well to remember we are still here and we are still praying for change.

Last bit of truth. I’m not ashamed to admit I’m nervous about the next four years. I will probably lose health care coverage. I will probably be harassed as a woman more since some of my people will think if the President does it, so can we.
But I am praying that Trump will pray and choose his team and future leaders wisely. I am praying that hate and harassment do not grow in the wake of his appointment.

Simply put, I am praying.
